I’ve been watching some 90′s horror movies lately… you know, from the time when they were still good :)
I really like how they made those movies back then. They had a lot more creativity and the scares weren’t limited to disfigured people killing other people with garden tools, like now (and the early 70′s).
After watching a few classics like The Sphere, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Addam’s Family (what?), The Cube and a few others I decided to create a poster for one of them. I picked Even Horizon, because I really like the atmosphere of that movie and frankly the original posters weren’t all that good.
I didn’t want to use the ship or Sam Neill for the poster, but instead I wanted to make the main element slightly less obvious, but still include some of that 90′s cheesiness , hence the drive and the face :D
Check out the result and leave a comment :)
Some details

Great work man! Loving the use of light. Really brings out a strong shape and the detail is pretty impressive!
Thanks Jason. I’m pretty pleased with the details – took some time to get it the way I wanted, especially the metal pattern on the rings. Plus, I decided to create everything myself and apart from 1 texture all the assets were made “by hand” :)
Do a poster on Cube, pretty please? That’s one of my all time favorites.
Might do one actually as I already have some sketches for it, as well as for 2 other movies.
Won’t be soon though, too much work on the horizon (see that I did there?:) ).
See, where, what? ELUCIDATE!
Work on Horizon… you know ;)
Ohyes, that. YES, YES! :D
love it!
keep going :)
Thanks Bruno. Love your blog by the way :)
Scarily powerful… well done.
